How Microneedling Works
Microneedling allows for the controlled method of inducing the skin’s self-repair process by creating thousands of micro-injuries in the dermis, triggering our body’s natural ability to send collagen and elastic to area of injury.
Reduce the Appearance of Scar Tissue
Microneedling can reduce the appearance of scarring through breaking down the scar tissue and stimulating cell proliferation. Scars are improved as the new collagen fibers elevate the depressed scar tissue. Cell multiplication results in the formation of new layers of elastin and collagen fibers, as well as new capillaries to improve blood supply. In response to this, the skin plumps and thickens, reducing the appearance of scars.
What The Treatment Involves
The skin is cleansed and number via a topical lidocaine to lessen the discomfort of the treatment. For better results we use a collagen stimulating product with Vitamin C and scar reduction properties; microneedling drastically increases the effectiveness and penetration of active ingredients of topical scar reduction ointments. The Microneedle device has 12 tiny needles with adjustable depth to personalize each treatment based on the clients’ needs.
Redness and mild swelling are very common, along with pinpoint bleeding. The post results of the treatment feel very similar to a sunburn. We advise you treat the skin as if you were sunburnt and avoid uncomfortable activities that increase your body temperature. This inflammatory reaction of the skin is short and fades significantly within hours, with mild discomfort for 24-48 hours. Shedding of the old skin is very common post treatment as well; we recommend avoiding and extensive exfoliation, as your skin’s natural shedding abilities at high after treatment.
Number of Treatments
Microneedling can be performed every 4-6 weeks until the desired results are achieved. The number of treatments varies per person and the extent of their scarring. Results are noticeable after the first treatment.
